COPPICE MERLIN Standard black gelding, 7 years, 41” by Sapphire Vasheer ex Southfieldgate Myrtle

(photo left taken Sept 2015, right taken July'15)

Super quality gelding with bone and substance.  Professionally broken and brought on slowly.  A very kind and sensitive pony who tries very hard to please and needs kind and sensitive handling to get his confidence.  Would suit a lightweight, small adult or teenager as he struggles with a bigger rider, and he did most of his early ridden work on the lead with a competent child.  He has done plenty of in hand showing with success and one or two dressage classes on the lead but no ridden show classes yet.  He hacks out and also enjoys jumping and has started popping a few cross poles.  He loves his routine with lots of fuss and grooming and is good with children messing around him.  He was well established off the lead by June this year but we had some issues caused by sharp teeth so he has been on the back boiler for a few months.  Ridden again end of September and would benefit from a few months of groundwork and build up work and I know I am not going to have the time to spend on him as I have youngsters to concentrate on.  He’s not exactly a project but he needs more time to reach his potential.  In the right hands he could make a top ridden pony as he has movement to die for but he would be just as happy being shown in hand or just pottering about.  Merlin is a homebred pony so we’ve had him from birth and have his full history.  He must be sold so I am genuinely open to any sensible offer from sensible people.  Please feel free to call or email me for further information but no texts please.  I’m more than happy to have a chat on the phone and tell you all about him as I want to find a really nice home for this little chap.
