Chiltern Shetland Pony Group Summer Show, 12 June

Our Summer show was marked by persistent rain and biting cold winds throughout the day. Yup, all the ingredients for a disaster!
But no - in fact we had a most enjoyable show, with smiles all round and everyone in a most friendly and helpful mood.  What's more we made a small profit! There were quite a few new faces and new ponies in what was a reasonable turnout. John Harrison, from Morecambe, picked his class winners with care and fairness and from an impressivel line up in the championship he finally chose Mr Brighton's well known Westpark Chieftain as his Show Champion with a young colt, Mr Fenemore's Pinglewood Diamond Jim as Reserve.
Earlier in the day, R. Fowler's Evies Pride took the Standard Youngstock Championship with C. Felton's Haysmoor Trick of the Tail as Reserve while in the Miniature classes pride of place went to Pinglewood Diamond Jim, chased by Collytown Lotus Blossom owned by J.Woodford.
With Chieftain winning the Standard senior class the Reserve Standard was Sapphire Russett owned by Emma Payne and shown by her father Roger Cook. Reserve to Pinglewood Diamond Jim as Miniature Champion was Swarthoull Peerie Annie owned by C. Felton.
Our Open Ring, where the youngsters start to build up their confidence in handling ponies and get used to riding in competition, had a slow start but support grew as the day went on. Our former Chair, Janet Good, gave the children plenty of attention and eventually chose Sharptor Deepest Blue (J.Birdsey) and "DJ" (A.Sambrook) as the best ridden ponies. She also chose two Helawi ponies Golden Annie (J.Howe) and Little Dancer (C.Thomas) to be the In Hand winners.
We look forward to welcoming friends old and new to our next show (indoors) at Bury Farm Equestrian Centre, Slapton, Beds on 2nd October. details will be available from Michelle Coates on 01582 700640 or pat.coates@ntlworld.com H.D.

Chiltern Shetland Pony Group March 2011

A great day had by all at The Chiltern Shetland Pony Groups first show of the season. After a chilly start, the sun eventually decided to shine. Good attendance and high spirits made the show a great success. This is our second show at Bury Farm Equestrian Centre and everyone commented on their fantastic facilities.

We were fortunate enough to have 2 lovely judges, in ring 1 there was Mrs Sue Pye, she had a hard task in this ring with a very high standard of pony. In Ring 2 we had Louise Fowler, she was great with the children and made the ring run very smoothly. We would like to take this opportunity to thank them for their time and support for the group. We look forward to our next shows  which will be held on 12th June 2011 at Twin Trees EC, Northill Beds and 2nd October 2011 back at Bury Farm EC, Mill Road, Slapton, Beds.
